No matter how much the powers that be want people to do nothing but drive while driving, that day isn’t going to come. Driving is a lifestyle that goes beyond which vehicle type suits our needs and the color it must be – it’s also about the mood and ambiance set for drivers and occupants while on the journey. Part of that means having radio, music and a connection to life outside the vehicle. Ford has aimed to make the driving experience both enjoyable and safe. One way is through SYNC® technology, which allows you to use simple voice commands to control features of your radio and your phone, so your hands stay on the wheel and you don’t have to look away from the road.

Smallest Ford Engine Ever! Three-Cylinder EcoBoost (and Two New Transmissions)
June 9th, 2011We’ve got details on the smallest engine Ford has ever built, a new 1.0-liter EcoBoost™ three-cylinder. It’s not just efficient; it’s super efficient. Seriously – that displacement is the same as a cruiser motorcycle’s! Now, this engine wasn’t designed in response to current fuel prices, mind you; Ford has been aggressively creating a range of fuel-efficient powertrains as part of its mission to strengthen its array of fuel-efficient vehicles. How’s that working out so far? Ford currently has 12 vehicles that lead their sales segments in fuel economy and four vehicles that deliver at least 40 mpg, something no other automaker can match.

EV Trivia: Guess How Often an Owner Will Plug In Annually
June 1st, 2011Come on, take a stab at it: How many times do you think an electric vehicle owner is probably going to plug in or disconnect in order to “fuel” up each year? To give you some perspective, on average, it’s 52 times a year to fill a gas tank.
At approximately four times a day, the EV will likely be “fueled” nearly 1,500 times annually. As you can imagine, that high number meant Ford engineers had to put some serious thought into where to place the charge port on its EVs, including the Focus Electric and C-MAX Energi.
Ford Car-to-Car Communication: The Future of Accident Prevention
June 1st, 2011No one really likes a backseat driver, right? That’s mostly because the person tends to provide nothing useful to your driving experience. But what if the information you received could actually warn you of a potential collision with another vehicle or some other road hazard?
Ford is now the first automaker to build a functional prototype that demonstrates how intelligent vehicles of the future (and experts think that could be the near future) could talk to each other in real time through Wi-Fi and GPS to help reduce crashes.
